Collected by indigenous people from the state of Oaxaca, Mexico. The ancient peoples considered copal a protective god, called Iztacteteo ~ "White god", for the white smoke that produces when it burns. The indigenous communities of Mexico collect the sacred resin from the copal tree for ceremonial, festive and medicinal purposes.

How to burn resin:Place a charcoal disk in a heatproof dish or bowl full of sand, rocks, or dirt and lite the disk. Once the entire disk begins to "spark" it is ready to add the resin. You can mix in dried herbs, leaves and flowers for a beautiful, natural aroma.
